What an INCREDIBLE day we had on Sunday as the world’s largest and best half marathon returned to the North East for another unforgettable Great North Run!

From the moment the weekend began, the excitement was impossible to miss. The North East was alive with colour, energy and that unmistakable ā€œOGGY OGGY OGGY!ā€ spirit.

There were Red Arrows soaring overhead, unbelievable crowds lining the streets, music, celebrations, selfies with PM Andy Burnham, visiting Frontrunners from across the country, and, of course, the very best cheer squad in the North East — Newcastle Frontrunners! 🌈

Our Great North Run weekend started on Saturday at Jesmond Dene Parkrun, where Newcastle Frontrunners volunteered in volume and welcomed visiting Frontrunners from all around the country. It was fantastic to meet so many runners, hear their stories and discover the different reasons that brought them to the North East to take on the Great North Run.

The whole city was buzzing throughout the weekend, from the Great North 5K through to the main event on Sunday. Everywhere you looked there were runners, supporters, volunteers and visitors coming together to celebrate one of the biggest events in the North East calendar.

We hope everyone who took part had an amazing weekend, enjoyed every moment and managed to raise lots of money for their chosen charities.

Congratulations to AJ Bell and Great Run on a fantastic event.

A very special THANK YOU goes to all our Newcastle Frontrunners club members who turned out in force to create the best cheer squad on the Great North Run route!

With our music, loud cheers, bright colours, huge smiles and endless positive energy, we were determined to make sure every single runner knew they had our support. we cannot wait to do it all again next year.

Congratulations, Runners! šŸ…

A massive CONGRATULATIONS to all our Newcastle Frontrunners members who completed the Great North Run, and to every single person who took on the challenge.

The unexpected heat made an already demanding 13.1 miles even tougher, so getting across that finish line was a fantastic achievement.

You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves.

This Is Why We Love the North East ā¤ļø

And finally, a huge thank you to the people of the North East. To the thousands of volunteers who gave up their time, the people who lined the streets, the families who cheered from their doorsteps and everyone who handed out drinks, ice pops, jelly babies and much-needed encouragement — you were incredible.

You showed the world exactly why the North East is such a fantastic place to live, visit and be part of. It's about community. It's about people. It's about generosity, celebration and coming together. And once again, the people of the North East showed the world that they are the reason that makes the Great North Run the best half marathon in the world.

You did the North East proud. šŸ’™

What a weekend. What a city. What a Great North Run! šŸŒˆšŸƒā€ā™€ļøšŸƒā€ā™‚ļø
